A year ago, it was reported that Libya’s new NATO-installed prime minister, Abdurrahim el-Keib, was in fact a long-time US resident, having taught at the University of Alabama and was formally employed by the Petroleum Institute, based in Abu Dhabi, UAE and sponsored by British Petroleum (BP), Shell, France’s Total, the Japan Oil Development Company, and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company.

France’s Hollande calls for Mali intervention, Clinton says nation can’t fight Islamists alone

French President Francois Hollande called Wednesday for the Security Council to approve African military intervention in Mali “as quickly as possible.”

France and the African Union would provide logistical support to a West African-led bid to recover northern Mali from Al-Qaeda-linked Islamists now in control there. Hollande said at a U.N. ministerial meeting on Africa’s troubled Sahel region that “there is no question” of negotiating with terrorists.
