Guantanamo: The youngest prisoner back home

He was 15 years old in 2002 when he was captured

He ‘s back in Canada, his native country, Omar Khadr, the more’ young prisoners in Guantanamo and the last to leave the prison west of the U.S. military base in Cuba had just 15 years old when, in 2002, was captured in Afghanistan and sentenced for the killing of an American soldier.

More than eight years ‘later, in 2010, a military court judge him’ to 40 years in prison. Omar and ‘was also the first since World War II to be convicted of war crimes by the Court Martial for acts committed when he was still a minor. It will finish serving his sentence in his home country.

Khadr was taken to Afghanistan by his father, a member of Al Qaeda. He was arrested after a shootout with an American convoy, during which he was hit in the eye and back
